Two years ago, through her rap art, Frida Amani released her track ‘Madam President,’ informing the world that anything is possible for a girl. Now, it is evident that she has begun to live out her lyrics, including the line “today I will show them the power of the woman.”
I preface this by having witnessed Frida Amani performing in Nairobi in front of 15 Presidents from various parts of the world, led by Kenya’s President William Ruto.
The United Nations Environmental Assembly (UNEA6), which convened in Nairobi to discuss environmental issues, verified Frida Amani as one of the key performers at their meeting in Nairobi, Kenya.
Frida, who is also a presenter for AMPLIFAYA on CloudsFM, performed at this meeting, which was attended by 15 Presidents, leaders, and representatives from various countries (with Tanzania represented by Minister of Environment Suleiman Jafo). She performed alongside American freestyle artist Dex MC Bean.
This is the first time the UNEA meeting has allowed a Hip-Hop artist to perform, where Frida broke three records in this event. First, performing in front of all 15 Presidents at once; second, being the first Hip-Hop artist ever to perform at a UNEA meeting worldwide; and third, being the only African artist to perform at this year’s meeting.
and also, the Rap duo Frida Amani, from Dar es Salaam and Dex McBean from Brooklyn, NYC, deliver highlights from the sixth session of the UN Environmental Assembly (UNEA-6) in this music video filmed on the grounds of the UN Office of Nairobi. The rap duo performed at the opening of the high-level segment of UNEA-6 on 29 March 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya.
